    Affordable Care Act

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly known as ObamaCare, was signed into law on March 23, 2010 and upheld by the Supreme Court on June 28, 2012. Despite all the controversy surrounding ObamaCare, these are a few things that work to your advantage:

    • Preventative services must now be offered with no co-insurance
    • Insurance companies cannot deny or limit benefits for pre-existing conditions in children (up to age 19)
    • Young adults up to age 26 can remain covered under their parent’s health plan
    • Insurance companies can cancel your coverage for a limited number of reasons
    • Every insurance company must offer an appeal process for claims denial
    • There are no lifetime limits regarding the amount an insurance company will pay out for your health coverage
    • Emergency services are covered regardless of your health insurance network limits
    • Your health insurance has to allow you to choose your primary care doctor within their network

The state of Idaho uses the Your Health Idaho Marketplace to regulate enrollment.  Residents must use the Your Health Idaho website to enroll in a plan in order to qualify for premium tax credits or cost share reduction.  You must create an account on their website in order to enroll and/or see if you qualify for financial assistance.  If you would like support in navigating through this process please call, email, or stop by and we would be happy to help.  We can answer any questions about creating an account, choosing the right health plan, knowing your costs, and applying for coverage.
